We can keep our rates low because groups
cooperate in leaving the facility at least as neat and clean as they
found it when they arrived. While we expect every group to TIDY the
common areas and put things back the way they were, we realize that
due to the physical and mental intensity of some workshops, washing
bathrooms and vacuuming bedrooms before leaving is the last thing
participants want to do. The minimum cleaning fee is $100 (for
overnight groups of up to 20 people). Larger groups may opt for a
$5/person charge in lieu of cleaning the facility. There is an
additional $75 charge for groups that provide their own meals and
want Friendly Crossways to do the final mopping of the kitchen and
dining hall.
Clean-Up, Please!
FOR GROUPS WHICH HAVE CONTRACTED TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN CLEANING,
THE FOLLOWING EXPECTATIONS ARE OFFERED FOR APPROPRIATE CLEANING:
Equipment & Cleaning Aids
- Vacuums are located 1) under main hall stairs (also vacuum
bags), 2) in hall leading to house, and 3) in cathedral hall on
second floor .
- Bathroom cleaners are in pantry behind kitchen, and in large
bathroom off of dorm.
- Kitchen cleaners, mops and buckets are in pantry behind
kitchen.
- Waster Paper Basket Liners (plastic grocery bags) for
bathrooms and bedrooms are just inside pantry door; 13-gallon bags
for bathroom are under sinks.
Common Rooms
- Return furniture to original room and configuration.
- Empty wastebaskets, replace liners.
- Vacuum floors and rugs.
- Vacuum: 1) hallways, 2) stairs and 3) entry ways
Bedrooms/Dormitories
- "Make" beds neatly with quilts, blankets are folded and left
at foot of bed, put rented sheets only (NOT mattress pads) in
basket hamper in dining hall
- Empty wastebaskets, replace liners.
- Vacuum room, especially UNDER beds.
- Dust off bureaus.
- Check to make sure nothing has been left under beds or in
bureaus.
Bathrooms
- Use foam cleaner or Simple Green type of stuff to wipe sinks
AND shower stalls.
- Hand and bath towels should be put in basket hamper in dining
hall.
- Empty waste paper baskets, replace liners.
- Clean toilets with toilet bowl cleaner and brush or sponge on
inside, and wipe down exterior of toilet, all around.
- Sweep and damp mop floors with pine-floor cleaner.
- Wipe the mirrors with Windex/glass cleaner.
- Check for stranded toiletries.
Rec Room (Ping-pong & Pool room)
- replace furniture mats over pool table
- Vacuum or sweep floors and rugs
Outside
- Pick up detritus.
- Empty cigarette butt buckets if you had smokers in your group.
REMEMBER: Your group is NOT responsible for cleaning dining room
and kitchen (other than cleaning the tables and sweeping up if you
provide snacks) if you have hired Friendly Crossways to do the
cooking for you. However, if you do your own cooking AND choose to
have Friendly Crossways do the facilities cleaning, there will be an
additional $75 charge for us to clean the kitchen and dining room.
Dining Room
- Rearrange tables and migratory chairs (please match chairs at
each table)
- Vacuum fireplace rug and hall runner.
- Wipe down tables and chairs.
- Put chairs temporarily upside down on tables so that floor can
be swept and mopped using pine-sol or other floor cleaner. Put
chairs back in place after floor has dried.
Kitchen
- Empty drying racks, sinks and dishwasher tubs. Put racks,
drying trays and tubs away.
- Empty compost on daily basis, and rinse out the bucket, and
trash containers.
- Clear and clean tops and sides of counters, stoves, other
surfaces.
- SEPARATE recyclables into containers outside. Please sort
carefully.
- Empty fridges and wipe down insides and outsides.
- Sweep floors, vacuum carpets.
- Mop kitchen floors with pine-sol or simple green when just
about everyone has left.
